Every year, the carousel is hosted for first-year medical students to gain experience in history-taking and rapport-building, especially with patients who identify within vulnerable or marginalized groups. The event had 5 stations that covered material either pertaining to Black Maternal Health, Indigenous Health, Trans Health, Street Health, or Refugee Health.

Finding your Path: COVID-19 Edition - July 28, 2020The Global Health Committee collaborated with the McMaster Medical Student Committee, Public Health Interest Group, and Student Affairs to host a panel focused on the many possibilities of a career in public health, using COVID-19 as a foundation for discussion. We had Dr. Tim O'Shea, a prominent infectious disease physician who works with the Shelter Health Network in Hamilton; Dr. Ross Upshur, the head of the Division of Clinical Public Health at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health in Toronto; Dr. Joanne Kearon, a PGY3 in public health and preventative medicine at McMaster.

COVID-19 Lunch & Learn - February 11, 2020Early 2020, we saw COVID-19 spread around the world. The Global Health Committee collaborated with Osmosis, a salient medical education provider to host a panel on the beginning stages of COVID-19. The discussion centered around the outbreak (at that time), the implications globally, and associated public health efforts.

Access to Contraception - March 16, 2020In support of the CFMS' National Day of Action, each medical school in Canada organized an event related to access to contraception. We hosted a discussion on the current status of contraception access to Hamilton, which encompassed barriers, demographics, and more!
